SBS Clubs

The following programs are all intentionally small groups of participants and volunteers who build friendships while participating in a shared activity or project.

Movement

Friends of all abilities building friendships while also moving their bodies! During nice weather, this group typically goes on a walk; during colder/wetter days, they explore different forms of movement such as zumba or adaptive yoga.

The movement club meets weekly on Mondays from 12:00-1:30 in north Spokane on Whitworth’s campus.

Music

Friends of all abilities learning, listening to, creating, and sharing music. This group has explored music in various ways: preparing a song for the talent show, performing as a choir, learning new instruments, singing karaoke, and more.

This club also meets weekly on Mondays from 12:00-1:30 in north Spokane, but only from about October through April. In the warmer months, they merge with the movement club.

Art

Friends of all abilities learning, creating, and sharing various forms of art together. They explore different projects throughout the year and have multiple opportunities to share their art in various gallery events around town.

SBS Art meets on Wednesdays from 2:00-3:30 in central Spokane (currently at City Covenant Church, 512 S Bernard St).

Cooking

A community of friends of all abilities making and sharing delicious food. Each week, this group learns a different recipe and various techniques, and each month they host a group of guests for a three-course lunch.

SBS Cooking meets weekly on Thursdays from 10:30-12:30.

SBS United Soccer Club

SBS United seeks to foster spaces where athletes of all abilities can come together to enjoy the world’s game. All are welcome! No prior skills or experience required. Our main aim is to connect through casual play + learning more about the beautiful game. Additionally, we also have a Unified Team that competes in the seasonally through Special Olympics.

SBS United gathers on Fridays from 3:15-4:45 (location weather-dependent, but in the central Spokane area). The club also enjoys outings like tournaments, Velocity games, and other special occasions.
